To be an engineer, from school you need maths and ideally one or more of physics, chemistry, design and technology, which takes you onto university for a degree in one of the many “engineer” courses that are available. After a couple of years working you become a “Chartered Engineer” which means you are then able to call yourself “an Engineer”. Regards Robin

To add to Robin’s comment, you can also get into engineering by doing an apprenticeship instead of going to university.
