Officially, I don’t work at a nuclear power station right now (although I have done in the past). From past experiences, I don’t think that working on a nuclear power station is a risky job at all. There is of course the inherent risk of radiation, but there are very good, well thought-through controls and building designs in place to protect station staff.

At any nuclear power station in the world, safety is top priority and overrides everything else. Things must be safe first before they can be used to generate electricity and make money. I once spoke to a technician who told me that he would rather work at a nuclear power station than a coal-fired one because it’s so much cleaner.
